Derrick "Rick" Nowlin has over 20 years experience in Martial Arts and Fitness. As an instructor he has taught for: The City Of Alexandria, CBITS (in Atlanta, GA.), Olympus Gym, Sport & Health Clubs Inc. (3 locations), The U.S. PTO Fitness Center and Gold's Gym (2 locations). Rick has done Self Defense, Rape Prevention and Weapons workshops for various organizations including The Fairfax County Police Department, The Jhoon Rhee Institute Of Tae Kwon Do, numerous health clubs, on campus at George Mason University and for several private organizations. He has been hired to train police officers, bodyguards, military personnel, and other security professionals. He has also had several celebrity clients. He has studied various martial arts including Okinawan Karate, Thai Boxing, American Kick Boxing, Kung Fu and Escrima.
In addition to teaching, Rick has appeared in several feature films and performed live Martial Arts Demonstrations throughout the Washington DC area and in Los Angeles, Atlanta and New York City at community events, celebrity functions, and on national television. He has also been featured in the Washington Post and The Washington City Paper. Derrick has been used as a quoted source and had several articles published in Men's Fitness Magazine.
